June 9, 2017 - New/Old Project
The last few weeks have been a very exciting time. The release of Perso, although not being a huge financial success, was a great experience. Working on Perso as my first commercial release and first large solo project has given me great confidence in my abilities, although I know I still have A LOT to learn!
The final weeks leading up to release were a very tough time to go through, not knowing what to expect or whether all the effort was going to be worth it. I nearly backed out of the whole project but knowing that there were at least a good few handfuls of people I knew were looking forward to playing Perso, I persisted. There's many things I would have liked to do differently, and some aspects of the game didn't turn out 100% as I would have liked. But considering it was my first release and I worked on the project solo apart from the soundtrack, I'm happy with the outcome.
So what's next for Crepe Studios?
I have another passion project that has a story I've been developing for the past couple of years. No development work has been started for it just yet. And probably won't for a little while longer. It's something that I don't want to get wrong so I'm not going to start it until I have a plan laid out for it. In the meantime, I will be re-creating a game which I worked on back in 2014.
I released a free mobile game on the Windows Phone platform back in 2014 and it was very well received. I'm going to be reworking the game to be released on PC. I'm looking forward to getting stuck into this project as it's a bit of an easier one to manage.
The project is called Arcsine. It's had a few names, I'll go into the naming choice in a future blog. I started work on Arcsine a few weeks back and I'm at a stage where I will start sharing some details and progress on development.
